Instead of $(&#039;#item&#039;) you could just use $(&#039;.1&#039;) and probley get away with it.
As web-dev best practices go, no ID, class, variable, function or anything should really start with a number so if your auto incrementing using PHP or jQuery you could just settle for a prefix on those HTML elements.

EG: item1, item2 etc
Then after data collection use PHPs substr() function to check the value after 4 characters...

i,t,e,m[1].

A similar technique can be performed using jQuery if need be.</description>
